As part of celebration of the Chinese New Year 2019, a calligraphy and Chinese painting competition was held in Dhaka on Jan 27.
Scores of Bangladeshi students attended the competition of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy to greet the upcoming Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb 5.
The Chinese embassy in Dhaka organized the competition.
The competition featured diverse performances along with a festival of local traditional handmade delicious local pithas (cakes).
Apart from the competitors, hundreds of people including dignitaries joined the Chinese New Year celebration ceremony which was held at the Shanto-Mariam Foundation campus in Dhaka on Sunday night.
Winners of the contest were given certificates and prizes.
